Lukas Romme, Week48, The Blue Deal

Hi everyone,

Today we had our meeting with Sven Louwers from The Blue Deal. The Blue Deal is a company that helps other companies in becoming more sustainable. The first thing they do is helping the company in saving energy. For example a better regulation of the heating system. A lot of companies do not spend enough time on this and in some cases leave the heater on all the time. By helping the companies in saving energy, they help the company save money. With this “extra money” a company could focus on buying sustainable energy systems. For example introducing the use of solar panels. So after the part of saving energy and using that saved money for sustainable energy The Blue Deal helps the companies by creating a healthier environment. By creating this healthier environment the employees will work more efficient and this will increase the profit of the company. Besides telling us how the company helps other companies in becoming more sustainable Sven told us a lot about the subsidies available for sustainability and innovation. There are lots of different subsidies available and it takes some time to file these papers. This is for some companies a reason to not ask for a subsidy. There is around 3 billion euro’s available for these sustainability and innovation projects.

Sven also gave us the contact information of someone who knows even more about the different kinds of subsidies available for sustainability and innovation. We are going to contact him next week and hopefully he can give us some extra information on subsidies and subsidized projects.
