Since our last meeting at SPARK we knew finally what we actually had to do. Our assignment for the week was making a terms of reference. More specific, that is a plan about the exact thing we are going to investigate, about the exact thing we are going to do for SPARK.
We are going to analyze the motives of entrepreneurs in or from post-conflict areas that have started ventures either here in the Netherlands and or in a post-conflict region. These regions include Iraq/Kurdistan, Somalia, Ghana, Morocco and Suriname. Our purpose is to find information on the motives on the entrepreneurs. Our goal is to get in contact with entrepreneurs in post-conflict areas that have decided to move from the Netherlands to their home country to start up their own business. We want to find out what the specific reasons were for the move an their already existing entrepreneurial experiences. We will interview migrant entrepreneurs here in the Netherlands that are descended from one of the above named countries. Here, we will also ask them why they started a firm and if they are interested in starting up a venture in their country of origin.
The method we are going to use is individual interviews. We are going to interview 20 migrant entrepreneurs. 10 of the entrepreneurs we are going to interview are migrant entrepreneurs in the Netherlands and the other 10 are migrated back to their country of origin. The entrepreneurs we are going to interview are small or medium sized.
With the results of this assignment we will try to gain more knowledge on how Spark can reach these potential entrepreneurs. We find that very interesting to further investigate, and thereby we are very curious how this is all going to be!
